Recycling / Trash Services

Fairview Township, in collaboration with the Erie Area Council of Governments (EACOG), entered into a new 3-year contract with Waste Management of Pennsylvania effective January 1, 2026. The EACOG elicited bids for ten municipalities in Erie County, and for the first time in quite a while, more than one hauler submitted a proposal. Waste Management was the low bidder. In accordance with Fairview Township Ordinance No. 2013-7, all owners of property within the Township shall provide for the required collection and removal of all municipal waste generated at such properties in one of the approved manners set forth below.

Option 1

Unlimited Collection

This option includes the weekly collection of waste and recyclables, six designated weekly periods for the collection of leaf waste, and access to the At Your Door Special Collection program providing for the safe disposal of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW).

Option 2

Per Bag Program

This option includes the collection of waste utilizing a pay-as-you-throw system (yellow, white, or green 33-gallon WM bags*), the weekly collection of recyclables, and six designated weekly periods for the collection of leaf waste.

Please Note

Waste Management’s At Your Door Special Collection program, providing for the safe disposal of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW), is not a feature of Option 2. Households wanting to utilize this program must pay a one-time fee of $18.00 which will then allow the property owner to take advantage of the program for the next 12 months.
