Fairview Township is governed by a dedicated Board of elected Supervisors, operating under the guidelines of the Second Class Township Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This Board consists of three Supervisors, each elected to a six-year term. These Supervisors are not only full-time officials but also actively engaged in the day-to-day operations of the Township, each with designated areas of responsibility.

The Board of Supervisors is charged with the overarching governance of Fairview Township, ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of its community members. This involves a wide array of responsibilities, all conducted within the framework of the Second Class Township Code. Their duties include:

Employee Administration: Overseeing all Township employees, ensuring effective and efficient personnel management.

Financial Management: Setting the tax rate and other fees, developing and managing the Township's budget, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Capital Planning: Establishing and managing capital reserve funds to address future infrastructure and service needs, and regulating land use through comprehensive planning and zoning, as mandated by the PA Municipalities Planning Code.

Road Maintenance: Supervising and performing road repair, berming roads, mowing berms, and snow plowing to ensure safe and well-maintained transportation routes. Additionally, they adhere to state regulations for the use of liquid fuels for paving projects.

Equipment Management: Overseeing the purchase, maintenance, and operation of all road and maintenance equipment.

Stormwater Management: Implementing and managing the repair and installation of storm sewers and catch basins to mitigate flooding and water damage.

Public Services Oversight: Attending and supervising the operations of the Sewer and Water Authority, Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Board, and Recreation Board, ensuring these entities function effectively and meet the community's needs.

Community Engagement: Engaging with regional and county bodies such as Erie County Planning, Erie County Association of Township Officials Executive Board, Solid Waste Management, Coastal Zone Management, and Emergency Management to ensure cohesive and comprehensive governance.

In addition to these core duties, the Supervisors' responsibilities also extend to:

Public Safety: Collaborating with local law enforcement and emergency services to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness. They work closely with local fire departments and West County Paramedics to ensure the Township has adequate fire, Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) coverage.

Environmental Stewardship: Promoting and implementing environmental protection initiatives, including waste management and sustainability practices.

Public Health: Ensuring the Township adheres to public health standards and regulations, working closely with health authorities to address community health issues.

Community Development: Fostering economic development, supporting local businesses, and enhancing the quality of life for residents through various community projects and programs.

Public Communication: Maintaining transparent communication with residents, addressing concerns, and providing updates on Township activities and developments.
