Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers contain freon. These units cannot be disposed of unless a qualified technician has removed the freon and has certified that the freon has been removed. You have three choices for removal if you have one of these units:
- Call Waste Management. For a charge of approximately $75 they will remove the item from the curb at your residence.
- Take the item to an appliance store that is certified to remove the freon.
- Bring the item to the Spring Clean-Up Day in May for a small charge.
