Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers contain freon. These units cannot be disposed of unless a qualified technician has removed the freon and has certified that the freon has been removed.  You have three choices for removal if you have one of these units:

1. Take the item to an appliance store that is certified to remove the freon.   
2. Bring the item to the Spring Clean-Up Day in May for a small charge.
