The Supervisors and road crew make every effort to handle situations as quickly as possible in any emergency. The Township's main responsibilites are:
- clear the roads and stormwater easements
- barricade impassable roads
- assist the Fire Departments
- report to Erie County Emergency Management
- report damage within the Township for possible Federal assistance (FEMA)
- conduct a damage assessment throughout the Township for Emergency Management
What you should do -
- call 911 for accidents and life-threatening emergencies
- clean debris from catch basins
- call the Township (474-5942) to clean debris from exposed ends of stormwater pipes
- have a backup sump pump for your basement
- keep yards clear of debris that could wash into drainage ditches/pipes and cause a blockage
- keep open drainage ditches free and clear of ANY debris
- report any damage to the Township (474-5942)
- STAY HOME IF ROADS CONDITIONS ARE BAD TO ALLOW ADEQUATE TIME TO CLEAR ROADS
- BE PATIENT
Electrical Outages -
- Call Penelec (888-544-4877), even if your neighbor has called. The more precise information Penelec has of where and how many homes are involved, the quicker response.
- Have backup generator and run it outside to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. House connection should have an approved emergency transfer switch.
- People with special needs should have back up provisions or call 911
- Keep your refrigerator and freezer closed.
