House Numbers
To aid emergency services, it is imperative to have your address numbers in a visible location from the street. It is helpful if a porch light or yard light illuminates the house number.
Street Lights
Fairview Township does not own or maintain the street lights. They are the property of PA Electric Company (Penelec) who is responsible for the repair and maintenance. ALL street light outages are to be reported to the Township who in turn reports them to Penelec. To expedite and assist Penelec, they ask for the pole number and nearest address to the pole. Please call the Township (474-5942) to report any outages during business hours (7:30 AM- 4:00 PM).
Traffic Signals
Traffic signals at all intersections in the Township are the responsibility of the Township. In the event of a malfunction, call the Township (474-5942) during business hours (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM). In case of an emergency, call the PA State Police (774-9611).
Street Signs and Road Signs
Fairview Township maintains the signs along the Township roads. If you notice any signs missing or damaged, contact the Township (474-5942) with the name of the road and the location of the intersection.
Winter Road Maintenance
The Township takes great efforts in keeping Township roads cleared of snow during the winter months with the goal to have the roads cleared for the school buses in the morning and the afternoon runs. The following are winter road reminders that will allow the drivers to plow more efficiently and quickly:
- Plow snow onto your own property and not across Township roadways. This creates potential hazards for motorists.
- Shovel or snowblow towards your house, not the road.
- Parking is not allowed on the roads. Make sure all vehicles are in the driveway.
- Stay back behind the snow plow at least 100 feet. When the snowplow stops at a corner, do not pull up close behind them, as they cannot see you when they need to back up.
- Allow ample room when a snowplow is approaching from the opposite direction.
COOPERATION ON YOUR PART HELPS OUR DRIVERS CLEAR THE ROADS OF SNOW IN A VERY DIFFICULT JOB.
