Elk Valley Lodge houses a recently expanded pro shop, an enclosed porch/sunroom for dining, a bar and a restaurant.  During the spring and summer it provides a large fully catered banquet area.  During the winter months 18 miles of trails for cross-country skiing is provided, including three illuminated miles of trails for nighttime skiing.  Also, the lodge provides indoor golf lessons.   The indoor facility contains two state-of-the-art golf simulation courses.  In addition, a large putting green and two practice hitting nets are provided.

Lake Shore Country Club - located at 401 Hardscrabble Boulevard.  This facility contains a 6,646 yard, 18 hole private golf course, three 9 hole golf courses and driving range.   A professionally staffed pro shop specializes in golf instruction, club repair, and also stocks a complete line of golf attire.  The facility also contains six tennis courts, a swimming pool and pool house.  The clubhouse contains a casual grill room, a fine dining room with a capacity of 44, and a banquet hall which can accommodate weddings and other functions, the Greenview Room for dining and small gatherings, and a card room.

The Kahkwa Club - located at 3300 Kahkwa Club Road.  In 1892,  prominent Erie citizens decided to build a country club on the western shores of the bay, close enough to the city to be reached by horse and carriage, yet remote from the congestion of the city.  This group leased property on what is now the western part of South Shore Drive near Massassaugue Point, erected a clubhouse and organized The Kahkwa Club.  The name Kahkwa was selected at the suggestion if the late Henry Catlin, "that having been the name of a tribe of Indians that frequented these shores when the country was a forest."  The early club was purely a social club.

As citizens became interested in golf, then becoming popular in larger metropolitan areas, they decided that they should build a golf course.  Many Kahkwa Country Club members were primarily responsible for the founding of the Erie Golf Association on June 24, 1899.  In 1901, the Erie Golf Association became the Erie Golf Club.  The clubhouse was located at the northwest corner of 8th and Kahkwa Boulevard.

Prior to 1904, when the lease on the property for the original Kahkwa Club was expiring, the club members felt that is would be wise to purchase the tract of land which encompassed the golf links.   Apparently about this time fire destroyed the clubhouse at Massassaugua Point.   Property was purchased from the Reeds from Lincoln Avenue west to the Tracy property, including all of the Crescent Drive in 1904.  The country club maintained a horse drawn bus for the convenience of its members wishing to use the West 8th Street trolley line.

As the community expanded and golf became more popular, it was decided to located the country club further west of the city, with area provided for eighteen hole course.  Negotiations were undertaken between the Erie Golf Course and the Country Club, and early records indicated an interlocking directorship and membership.  Land was purchased in Swanville and the present clubhouse was erected in 1917.  Like the old, the property was adjacent to public transportation facilities.  The North Western Electric Railroad Company tracks paralleled the 17th fairway, and a large row a poplar trees was planted for privacy.

The Kahkwa Club currently has a total of 661 members including 380 golf members, 4 corporate members, 19 non-residential members and 258 social tennis members.  The clubhouse consists of 306.29 acres of land, contains a clubhouse, golf pro shop, tennis pro shop, swimming pool with locker rooms, snack bar and maintenance building
